What Can I Experience at Saunia?

After changing in the locker room and a quick shower, you absolutely must not miss the classics of this relaxing activity. These include the Finnish sauna, a traditional type of sauna. These saunas are characterized by high temperatures and low humidity, creating a dry and warm environment for deep relaxation and detoxification. Temperatures in Finnish saunas typically range between 80°C and 100°C.

saunia-black-friday.jpgSteam Sauna, also known as a steam bath, features high air humidity and lower temperatures than the Finnish sauna. Steam sauna temperatures usually range between 40°C and 60°C. In the steam sauna, water is poured over heated stones, creating steam and increasing air humidity.

If you’re worried that the sauna might not suit you and want to warm up gradually, visit their Salt Sauna. The salt sauna is very gentle and is especially appreciated by sauna beginners, thanks to its comfortable temperature of around 40°C.

In this sauna world, you’ll also find a Tropical Sauna, which offers significantly higher humidity at a lower temperature than the Finnish sauna, or a sauna with a steam boost, where the temperature is around 90°C.

vstup-zdarma-saunia.jpgThis type of sauna is equipped with a device that periodically pours water over heated stones on the stove, spreading hot air throughout the sauna. Every five minutes or so, your body is hit by an intense thermal wave, which enhances your perception of warmth.

After sweating thoroughly, you can take advantage of the cooling pool, sprinkle yourself with icy crystals from the ice well, or pour a full bucket of cold water over yourself for a truly intense experience. At some locations, you can also enjoy beautiful views from the terrace of the surrounding area. In the afternoon hours, you can additionally attend themed Sauna Ceremonies

Feeling hungry, thirsty, or looking to refresh yourself? No problem. Visit their Refreshment Bar and choose from a wide range of beverages and tasty snacks such as pizza, paninis, or ham-and-cheese toasties.

saunia-vstup-zdarma.jpgWhat Is a Sauna Ceremony?

Sauna ceremonies are traditional rituals associated with sauna bathing and are becoming increasingly popular not only in northern countries but also in places like Germany, Austria, and more recently in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Saunia’s sauna center has been offering this experiential form of sauna bathing for several years. Their ceremonies are designed to enhance the effects of sauna bathing and provide visitors with an even more profound relaxation experience.

The sauna ceremony process includes several steps, such as heating the sauna, pouring water over hot stones, applying aromatic essences, skin peeling, and cooling down with ice rituals. Each ceremony has its unique concept and may also include musical accompaniment or sound therapies to achieve deep relaxation.

Sauna ceremonies offer a combination of heat, scents, sounds, and body rituals that have positive effects on both the body and mind. Each ceremony can have a different focus. At Saunia, ceremonies typically take place daily from 5:00 PM, and during special events, even earlier.

saunia-sleva-promo-kod.jpgWhat Are the Health Benefits of Sauna Bathing?

Spending time in a sauna has many health benefits that people of all ages can appreciate:

  • Reduces stress - Sauna bathing has a relaxing effect that helps reduce stress and release tension.

  • Improves blood circulation - The heat in the sauna stimulates blood circulation, which helps improve heart and vascular function.

  • Relaxes muscles - High temperatures and humidity in the sauna help relax tense muscles and reduce pain.

  • Enhances respiratory pathways - Humidity in the sauna can help clear the respiratory pathways and alleviate allergy or asthma symptoms.

  • Promotes detoxification - Sauna use encourages sweating, which allows toxins to be flushed out of the body.

  • Boosts immunity - Sauna bathing has a proven positive effect on the immune system, which can help protect against various illnesses.

  • Improves sleep quality - Sauna sessions at Saunia can help enhance sleep quality, as the heat and humidity help calm the mind and relax the body.

Why Is Swimwear Not Worn in Saunas?

Swimwear is typically not worn in saunas for several hygienic, health, and traditional reasons. Swimwear often contains chemicals like chlorine from pool water, which can be released into the air in the sauna's hot environment. This can be unpleasant and even harmful to the respiratory system. Additionally, it is important for the body to heat evenly in the sauna and for sweat to evaporate effectively. However, swimwear can impede this process by retaining moisture close to the body and preventing proper evaporation. This can reduce the overall effectiveness of sauna bathing and lead to uneven body heating.

Sauna bathing is also perceived in many cultures, especially in Scandinavian countries, as a time for cleanliness and relaxation, where it is common to use the sauna naked. Nudity allows for better blood flow to the skin and more effective detoxification of the body through sweating. Moreover, swimwear can be uncomfortable in the sauna’s hot environment, potentially causing chafing or skin irritation. Therefore, if possible and comfortable, it is often recommended to enter the sauna without swimwear to make sauna bathing as effective and enjoyable as possible.

When Should You Avoid the Sauna?

You should avoid the sauna if you have acute infections, a fever, or serious heart problems, such as unstable blood pressure. People with severe respiratory conditions, such as asthma or bronchitis, should also exercise caution, as high heat and steam can worsen their symptoms. Pregnant women, especially in the first and third trimesters, should consult a doctor before sauna use. The sauna is also unsuitable shortly after a large meal or during dehydration, and it should definitely be avoided if you are under the influence of alcohol, which can lead to a collapse caused by low blood pressure. If you have any uncertainties or new health issues, always consult a doctor before planning a sauna visit.

saunia-promo-kod.jpgHow Long Can You Stay in the Sauna?

When sauna bathing, it is important to follow the correct procedure and take care of your health. It is generally recommended to stay in the sauna for 5 to 15 minutes. Beginners should start with shorter sessions, such as 5 to 10 minutes, and leave the sauna if they feel discomfort or dizziness. During a visit, multiple sauna cycles can be performed, with breaks for cooling down and hydration in between.

Before entering the sauna, it is recommended to take a shower and ensure you are well-hydrated. In the sauna, you should sit or lie down in a comfortable position and relax. After leaving the sauna, it is advisable to take a cold shower or walk in the fresh air to cool down. Subsequently, it is important to replenish fluids by drinking water or herbal tea. After the entire process, it is good to rest for 10 to 20 minutes to allow the body to fully recover. Sauna bathing should be enjoyable and safe—always respect your body’s limits, and in case of health concerns, consult a doctor before using the sauna.
